This week's Monday Munchies provides us an opportunity to baseline. On a recent post-World Cup outing to Dupont Circle with Official Friends of DCWD Juju and Madison, we stopped by Dupont Circle Irish bar James Hoban's. Your opinion on bar food aside, we decided we needed to nosh on something to continue drinking, and I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich.
The dish was perhaps one of the best examples of a great idea with only satisfactory execution. the sandwich came with an interesting mix of ingredients: grilled chicken with avocado, bean sprouts, tomato, tarragon, mayo, and mixed greens on a baguette. And yet, for all the nice texture differences, there was a giant lack of flavor. No salt, no heat, no spice. Just the burn of the grill. Sad.
