Monday Munchies: Mr. Smith's

The Setup

I was already in Georgetown when Official Friend of DCWD Rajistan called, looking to grab something quick to eat. We ended it grabbing half-priced burgers at Mr. Smith's.

The Vibe

Mr. Smith's is very much a bar first and then a restaurant, which is represented well by the fact that you walk through a bar to get to the restaurant portion. The restaurant is more of a large patio in the back, partly inside and partly outside. With this reality, and its use of plastic patio furniture and Christmas lights, it's like eating dinner in someone's backyard, only if that person also hung Tiffany lamps from their overhang. I've always felt that both the bar and the restaurant are dark, especially at night.

The Food

With the burgers half-price, we both got one, mine loaded with bacon and cheddar and with curly fries. Look, I'll be honest: I probably would have eaten anything. That being said, it was actually a pretty surprisingly good burger. Plus it was served on sort of an Italian sub roll, so that was a very interesting twist. Not even close to being on the level of some of the other burger places we've been, but again: interesting.

The Verdict

A satisfying cheap burger with curly fries (!), but only if it's half-priced on Tuesdays.
