"Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you what you are." - Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin
DC Wrapped Dates is a little bit of everything. It's a food journal where friends can share all the highs and lows of their culinary lives. It's a database that acquaintances and total strangers can use to find restaurants to sample. It's a date blog that captures just how frustratingly simple and plainly difficult it is to find that perfect spot for the special romantic dinner. It's a way for us to find fellow foodies in our community and branch out into bigger and better food adventures. And most of all, it's a snapshot of the delicious diversity and epicurean excitement of this place that we call home: the District of Columbia.
How did this all come about? Official Co-Writer of DCWD CC and I were talking one day about how it's only when you need to plan a date on short notice that you run out of ideas. So we started collaborating on a date book, a short list of things to do and places to go in DC that would be perfect for dates. This blog is an extension of that, but more food-focused. It's our opinion that a good date revolves around food; by its very nature, eating together with someone is an immeasurably connecting experience. So we'll write about the places we eat in DC, the foods we love and where to find them, and how they stack up in the date book. We'll also pair them with a fun thing to do near the restaurant so that each entry can be used as a full date recipe (did you see what I did there? Two food puns in a single sentence!) So best of luck on your own DC dates, and bon appetit!
